Frances lives and works in Cornwall. Working with black and white earthenware clay, her pieces are predominantly slab built. Often decorated with delicate lace, which is impressed onto the surface of the clay to create beautifully textured marks.
Her colour palette is subtle, she carefully chooses colour combinations depending on her mood or time of year. Each piece is hand-painted with underglazes, engobes, oxides, stains and gold lustre.
The Cornish countryside plays a part in her work, although it may not be apparent when you first take a glance, however when you look more closely you can see the inspiration lies deep within the detail.
